Dates: October - December 2020
Project Type: Web design, Front-end dev, Wordpress, Product design
Challenge: Every Christmas, Good Noise Vancouver Gospel Choir produces sold-out Christmas concerts that generate sales that make up over 80% of its annual budget. Due to the pandemic, the choir and along with all performing artists were prohibited from in-person concerts with a live audience. The choral society was left with the option to shutdown its entire concert season or to see if they could produce their first virtual concert experience without the choral members gathering in-person. With accessibility to multi-track recording and video technology, the society decided to move ahead with producing its first-ever online video performance.
Role & Responsibility: As the product designer, I was tasked to help design and produce a digital box office experience, produce a landing page to promote and host the virtual concert video, and develop a password-protected online concert experience.
Results: The digital box office opened late October of 2020 and by the afternoon of the video performance release date on December 12, 2020, 721 tickets were sold. This exceeded the minimum goal of 500 tickets. This resulted in a net zero profit. However due to overwhelming positive feedback and overwhelming enjoyment of the video performance experience, the society reopened the digital box office and continued to sell tickets after December 12, 2020. When the digital box office closed, a total of 820 tickets were sold which exceeded the target sales goal of 800 tickets.
